Jackie newsmagazine features Mother Pat

The cover of the Examiner’s “Jackie” newsmagazine is a story on our IMA president, The Rev. Pat Miller+. “Mother Pat,” as we affectionately call her, is the first religious leader featured in Jackie. Check out her inspiring story at Jackie.

April 2010:  Roy Schaefer (center) received a recognition for his years of faithful service to the worldwide Community of Christ. Pictured with Roy are his wife Marilyn and Deacon Larry Allen. Roy passed away in March 2011 and his friendship and leadership are missed by us all.

April 2010: Kim and Jessica served on the planning team for April's Health Resource Fair which was organized by our informal Hungry and Homeless Coalition.

July 2009: Last summer the Hungry and Homeless Coalition organized the Civic Club Canned Goods Challenge - which was both a lot of fun (and, thanks to the community's generosity, a lot of lifting!).

 

 

September 2009: Plans are well underway for the 2011 Health and Spirituality Workshop. During last year's Workshop Marci, Carl and Daniel enjoyed visiting and ice cream during one of the breaks. Check out this year's Workshop on their webpage.

February 2010: Our local Baha'i congregation invited us to join in prayer for their leaders in Iran who are being persecuted for their religious beliefs. To read the Examiner article on the prayer service click here.

August 2009: We were privileged to hear first hand of the persecution in Iran from Anisa, a refuge, who spoke at the Trails West Library.

 

 

March 2010:  The annual Parent University offered workshops and resources for families in eastern Jackson County.

 

 

 

 

 

 

December 2009:  We enjoyed an ecumenical La Posada hosted by Gudgell Park Community of Christ. The traditional Latino/Latina tradition recalls the Christian story of the journey of Mary and Joseph to find shelter just before the birth of Jesus. The contemporary observance highlights the needs of the poor, homeless, refugees and immigrants.
